Does anyone know if it's possible, or who might convert an M mount lens to a LTM lens?
I really miss my 40-c cron because I only have thread mount film cameras.
thoughts?

Rather than hack that lens about, my choice would be to get a cheap (or not-cheap -- your call) M-mount body.

well John, if you have an extra...
I would think this would interest others. I have a canon p and have had other bodies in the past that I prefer to the size of the M, say the IIIf for example.

Assuming that the rear element of the given lens were sufficiently narrow to fit the smaller L39 mount, you would need to somehow remove the bayonet mount, grind the body down by a perfectly precise 1mm without trashing the lens (good luck with that) and machine a new threaded mount custom made to fit the lens perfectly.
I'd expect the cost to be several orders of magnitude greater than the value of the lens and the price of, for example, a used Bessa.

Yes, it's possible to convert some of the Leica M lenses to S.M. In most cases what needs to be done is the M mount needs to be machined into a screwmount thread mount & also needs to ne machined 1mm thinner which some of the M lenses cannot have done since they don't all have that much excess metal to machine off.
the problem with many of the lenses to convert to screwmount from Leica M is that the flanges are only around 1mm thick & in order to convert them to S.M. the flange needs to be 1mm thinner which would remove all or most of many lens flanges.
