Don't post when tired.. as pointed out f2.8mm
Have any of you converted this lens via Japan Exposures?

I like the focal length and it is a great lens.

My question goes to function. How does this lens get masked/framed in the Ikon Zi viewfinder?

Thanks,
Gary

I recommend to consider the M-Hexanon 90/2.8 instead. A very nice and sharp copy, and very well built. For instance, the aperture ring does not turn as it does with a conversion.

I myself prefer the Elmarit-M 90/2.8, a bit smaller, and one of the sharpest lenses Leica ever built.

Roland.

Roland,
I have an Elmarit. Is the Elmarit-M worth the extra cost when compared with the first version Elmarit? The first version has twelve aperture blades for a smooth bokeh.

I'd have thought by now someone would point this out but the 90mm Sonnar for the G cameras has a max aperture of f2.8 not f2.0 (as per the thread title) - I just went and looked. It is a good lens but, from what I've seen, not so good that the added inconvenience and expense of conversion to M or screw mount seems justified, given some of the good lenses - also f2.8 - already mentioned in this thread.

Apologies for the wrong maximum aperture. My G2 days are just starting up after a long absence, but I'm thinking of duplicating lenses on my new Ikon ZI.

My memory is that I was always very happy with this lens. I haven't had experience with any other rangefinder lens in this focal length, so other options are appreciated. My conversion would end up costing somewhere in the range of $500 - $550, so it seems that this is within the price range of some of the lenses suggested. I looked on Ebay and there seems to be different generations of the Elmarit 90mm M lens. It all seems a bit confusing.
