Converting RAW to TIFF / JPG???

😕 Hello,

Just got my RD1s on Monday and have shot about 50 pictures with it.

The RAW files look AWESOME, but I can't figure out how to save them down as TIFFs or JPGs - and my Photoshop CS doesn't recognize the RAW file.

Is there a plug-in I need to download? If so where?

I'm guessing (hoping) this is an easy fix and I just don't know the answer.

Check out the link to RichC's RD1 site. The downloads you require are there - Epson Photoraw and the photoraw plugin which I assume will work with PSCS. Alternatively try updating your version of Adobe Camera Raw - not sure if it was ever supported in CS.

Or you can simply use the Epson PhotoRAW software, which lets you save the converted files as TIF or JPG.

There are a couple of ways to go, there is a photoshop plugin available from http://esupport.epson-europe.com/Pr...=8E1sKWdZ0FlztA3eU002FP3qgIPhNmV6H7yH&tc=6#19
Also available from adobe is the ACR V2.3 for CS.
If you use the stand alone Epson PhotoRaw V1.21 the I would recomend saving the files as 16 bit TIFF to give you the maximum quality.

I use Adobe DNG Converter to convert Epson raw files to DNG first. That way my raw files are compatible with any program and I can covert them to jpg or tiff or what ever. DNG Converter is part of Adobe Camera Raw package which can be downloaded from here:

DNG files are a lot smaller then tiff files and they are lossless as well.

I use the Linux options: UFRaw and DCRAW, both of which can work as Gimp plug-ins, or the also free Lightzone.
