The 5-letter codes were for ease of ordering by telegram.
Not so much via telegram more appropriate for sending a cable.

Has anyone ever used an OSBLO?
Yes, rare it is but unimpressed I was...

Hi,
Typical telegram and cable 5 unit code; TUNHO? That's a C&W one, meaning do you agree or we agree; I used them until I retired about 25 years ago...
Can't find a list on the www but I'll add the Hove Foto book to the list; it's called "Full Codewords Description and Index as at September 1938 [and] Codeword to Numerical Coding Index as at 1960". In practice I use Rogliatti's book (70 yrs version) most.
To save you Googling here's C&W's version:-
https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=e0IKBgAAQBAJ&pg=PA127&lpg=PA127&dq=tunho++C%26W&source=bl&ots=nGa8uIDMpN&sig=CMW0xrsJvri5Fl_ImcxBNb6i71g&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjlj9Xwnd7JAhWGtBoKHVagDQkQ6AEIJzAA#v=onepage&q=tunho%20%20C%26W&f=false

Hi,
No, but after seeing the FIWAS I wondered about TISWAS and to save you all, it means totally confused but - alas - is 6 letters...

The coolest accessory for me is the SBOOI (small round 50mm viewfinder). I almost never do without it.
Erik.
Interesting Erik. Looking at your excellent photos I always presumed you used an external finder but thought it may have been a VIOOH. I never found the SBOOI to be as accurate.

Mine is reasonable precise. Of course there is only a primitive indication for correcting the parallax.
I never use a VIOOH. Brings the camera out of balance. Too big and heavy.
I love my sweet little SBOOI. Mine is in black paint (genuine), must be very rare because I have never seen another one. Must be early because there is no GmbH-engraving, only Ernst Leitz Wetzlar Germany. No ridges at the side either.

ABCOO is not for use with the ABLON, but for cutting the film in the camera.

Erik,
From what I understood the ABCOO was a general film cutting tool. In addition to being able to trim film in the camera, specially the 250 exposure rolls but in combination with the ABLON for trimming bulk film to the starting point for reloadable cassettes. The plus side being safer and less damaging to the ABLON than scissors or a knife when working in the dark. Thanks for your knowlege and insight.

A black SBOOI! Please share pictures if can.
I too find the VIOOH a little cumbersome but very accurate and useful when I don't need to see whats coming in and out of the frame.
I found that there's always more info on both sides of the negative than the SBOOI shows.
Hope i'm not OT ing...

Well, this is simply untrue. I now have my ABLON and my ABCOO both at hand. The ABCOO has two fingers at the end. Between those two fingers the sharp part can be found. I can never get this sharp part in touch with the ABLON as the ABLON is too thick! I always use my ABLON with a sharp utility knife. My ABLON is about 80 years old and when I continue using it like I do now, it will surely work perfectly in 200 years from now - if am am still around.

Wrist strap to keep a Barnack small.
My VF'er for the Pentax-L 43/1.9 (the only LTM Pentax lens ever made). It features 45mm and 50mm frames with a diopter so I can shoot without glasses. Also know that I use the entire VF'er window for accurate 35 mm frames that I use with a 35/1.8 Nikkor in LTM.

Malheuresement. I want a black SBOOI. I was quite resigned to replacing my silver SBOOI on my black Leica II with a black Voigtlander 50 EVF. Now I know I'll be missing out on what Erik's got that will be harder to accept. I agree with him that the SBOOI is the most indispensable accessory for an old Leica.

how could i survive until today ... without ABLON?
uh.
i see. i got scissors, and a finger to estimate the length of the cutoff.
Exactly
I have an ABLON, but in 20 years I've never felt the need to use it.

Fortunately I dislike the SBLOO: too big, especially on a tiny Leica II. No, it's the very neat 50 set up I wanted in all shiny black. I'll post a picture when I achieve that. One day.
