Is there any way on a nikon coolscan V through the nikon scan 4 sotware to manually choose the area where the scanner scans? I have some negs that were taken at a concert, so there are dark areas that are a large part of the frame so the scanner thinks that it is the edge of the frame. I get frames that are cut off. Is there any solution?

Use the 'Strip Film Offest' slider in the Scanner Extras part of the Tools Menu to adjust where the frame lines are if it doesn't get it right automatically. Not cutting the film straight, or cutting into the sprocket holes also causes this problem.
