Just came back from work and wanted to scan my last film - and - surprise, surprise - not a single reaction from this Coolscan V. No op lamp glowing, funny sound, rien, nada, nothing. Rather impolite, I find.

Yes, I've double checked the power cord with a meter. Needless to say, warranty was gone in March (one year, they say). Even though I'll give Nikon a call tomorrow to clarify the options I have, here's my question to the initiated and kings of electronic devices:

Does this thing do have a fuse inside or are there any other known reasons and maybe cures to this problem?

Thanks a lot and regards

Ivo

I never opened mine, but since it has a build-in PS it must have a fuse. Worhtwhile to check it. If it is not that I think it is likely the PS is broken -- a job for Nikon.

Good luck, Hans

Hi Ivo,

I think I'll try opening it over the weekend. What is a PS?

Power Supply. Hardware problems in computers and other electronic equipment can frequently traced back to the PS. Usually they are inexpensive and easy to replace, but that does not mean repair will be cheap..

I had a similar problem with my Minolta 5400-II scanner. PS and fuse were ok, but still 'no lights'. After gathering dust for half a year I wanted to throw it away, after having sent it to the repair shop already 2 times, but just in case plugged it in... and it worked.

Good luck, Hans
