I got a Coolscan V a couple of weeks ago and it was working fine until last night. It started ejecting the film strip immediately every time i put it in. I made sure i was using evenly trimmed strips but that didn’t help. Today i took the cover off of the negative carrier and tried to clean the rubber rollers as best i could but it didnt fix it. Then, i took the scanner apart and cleaned the mirror but its still doing it. hopefully someone has some advice for me. thanks.

I see you mentioned opening up the negative carrier (SA-21 feeder?) and tried cleaning the rubber rollers. Have you tried locating the three sensors inside the feeder, and examining the condition?

Could also potentially be a software issue. Make sure you have the latest version of Vuescan installed. I've also found I have to be specific with my process using the Coolscan. I turn the scanner on until it's warmed up, then connect the cable to my computer, then open Vuescan. And then I insert my film. If I do it in another order I invariably run into problems.
