Coolscan V prices

I was going to get a Coolscan V to replace my Epson V500 because I only shoot 35mm and feel like the Coolscan would be a lot better.

However, now that the Coolscan Vs are discontinued, I have found no place online or locally that still sells them except for Ebay. And I just watched this used one end at $120 cheaper than a brand new Coolscan 5000. That's ridiculous.

the price has been rising lately (i mean RISING). i have seen a couple sold for more than a 8000ed....anyway, go check KEH and somtimes they do have it in stock considering they still have BRAND NEW 9000ed in stock in original price. I don't know why people would spend the extra bucks buying the overpriced stuff on ebay...

Prices have gone crazy! I sold my used (used constantly over four years) Coolscan V ED via the local Yahoo Japan auctions for 60,000 yen (USD$675) a few months back. Not bad considering I only paid 73,500 yen for it!
