Coping through 12 months of the Coronavirus through photography

It's been a year since COVID created so many restrictions where I am and also marks one year with the M10. I've found that photography was my way of keeping sane the past 12 months, having shot more in the past year than all of 2019.

I've enjoyed my M10 a lot. It is a wonderful camera and a joy to shoot. That said, owning the M10 made me appreciate how good the my 13 year old M8 is. The plan was to sell the M8 to recover the cost but I cannot seem to part with it :)

Sharing some photos from the last 12 months. Shooting my family (mostly) through this pandemic has made me stay grateful despite the uncertainty in the world and I'm having fun doing it (and geeking out on lens characteristics etc).

A note on the lenses I've used the most:
I love how the C-Sonnar and CV Nokton classic do portraits. I used to only have the ZM Planar which is a very nice lens and probably the more versatile of my 50s - sharp with this "transparent" look. The C-Sonnar and the CV work really well with the M8. The CV is nice on the M10 too (I hardly use my C-Biogon).

I'm glad I have photography to take my mind off the anxiety of the lockdowns. Also with very limited places and subjects to shoot, I'm seeing a lot of the characteristics of the gear I own. Previously I often sold gear prematurely, before I could even really get to know it favoring reviews of others over my own experience. While it hasn't cured my GAS, it has helped a bit with Seller's Remorse :)

Wishing everyone health and peace of mind.

Thanks, Tim! You might recognize this lens. I still have it and l appreciate it so much more today than I did when I bought it from you. It is fantastic :)

Coronavirus and related lockdown made a difficult time for many people.

Passions like photography have been of help, for me as well.

Your photos Taffy are beautiful, witnessing good moments of familty life during a difficult time. Well done, do not hesitate to post more :)

PS: I really like # 8 in the first series !

Glad you're still getting good use out of it. It really is a special lens on the M8.

Nice results!
Good you were able to switch from long time used M8 to M10. I mean afford it...

We were kicked out from facilities in February 2020. Now it is almost April of 2021 and no sign of returning to regular indoor activities any time soon.

Thanks! Had I known the pandemic would hit us this way I would not have bought the M10 (got mine used).

Where I am, we are only starting vaccination and everyone is mostly working from home. The mental stress is real to me so in a way, photography has been a decent investment. Plus I get to document our family through this very unique time, how we're coping / adjusting / trying to make the most of the situation.

Thank you! Just looking at family snaps of 2019 and 2020 you can see such massive difference. It will be good to go over these several years from now and be grateful we made it out.

Beautiful results from the digital-M's. And beautiful family!

Thanks for sharing.
