Keith, but you Aussies are providing some of the beef McDonalds uses in the US and most of the beef used elsewhere. (note: while this is true, there are a number of urban legends as well)

Yes ... guilty of taking a thread off track again! 😛

The sort of stupidity that happened in that hall was fairly minor but it sure is the thin end of the wedge just the same. I remember a long time ago New Zealand had a prime minister named Robert Muldoon who was basically a thug disguised as a politician. His claim to fame was having some journalists at a press conference physically removed by the police because he didn't like the questions they were asking! Our ex state premier, Joe Bjelke-Petersen, was well known for using the Queensland Police Force as his personal army when it came to busting heads at protests marches etc!

These delusional little tin gods are always out there and now and then they get exposed for what they are .. which is good IMO.

At least we could see him for what he was, now the majority of the country are fooled by a guy with a goofy smile.
I really cannot understand the thought process that goes on when some people vote....maybe the constituencies get what they deserve with politicians these days?
Not limited to the US either, dickhead politicians are an international group.

No.

There's a lot of hard working honest people who have come to the conclusion that they can best contribute to society through politics. Some of them I know personally and I have ambitions to fulfill public office in my home town. Not to dick around with the bad apples, but because often a bad political culture (or even a bad system) can best be changed from within.

South Africa's Prime Minister De Klerk abolished apartheid, now I wonder how far would he would have got had he been a white anti-apartheid activist in South Africa?
 
This should not be considered a small matter.

After having watched the video of the cop(goon) as he wrested the camera from a rather Grandmotherly lady seated quietly in the audience who respectfully resisted as he pulled at her camera, he then asked if she wanted to make it hard for him as he brought his right hand back and fondled the clasp of the gun on his belt. After which, he was able to pull(take) the camera away from the lady.

This is untenable behavior from authority which the US Constitution was created to prevent.

Chabot swore an oath to uphold that Constitution and has broken his oath in a most heinous fashion in direct opposition to the people he is supposed to be serving.

As such, I believe he is a traitor betraying the people in an aggressive and violent manner and should be summarily prosecuted. He broke the law against the will of the people he has been sworn to protect. It couldn't be more obvious.

The goon was clearly and forcefully stealing property from an elderly woman while indirectly threatening to use his weapon on her and should be prosecuted for his crime as well.

Johan is 100% correct. It is sad that a very few people holding political office act improperly and create a negative impression to many of the people who volunteer their time (and frequently personal finances) to make their communities a better place.
 
This is deplorable behavior on the part of the police and the congressman. I think both need suing badly. I say this as someone with rather conservative political leanings too.

surely you must recognize that the politicians who purport to share your views are often the loudest to proclaim their love of freedom but the first to give away the freedom of those they represent as long as their own isnt touched.

this Chabot tool is just another hypocrite, which I will freely admit is free from his political affiliation.

guy has one of the worst track records in congress on civil rights. even seemingly innocuous things like "protecting the pledge of allegiance" shows that this guy doesnt have our best interests in mind. he voted to prohibit our court system from making rulings about the constitutionality of the pledge or judicial interpretation, which is taking away the power of citizens to challenge a government policy in court. how is that protecting freedom?

hopefully a judge makes him pay big time. or maybe the media will pick the story up and the people of Ohio will replace him.

p.s. I see that tea party people are pissed off too, this might be the first time Ive agreed with them on anything of real significance.
