I need to find a hood for my 35mm Canon f:1.8 LTM lens.

Filter threads are 40mm ( I think ), but if I get a generic round hood, that will block the RF/VF on my Leica.

Is there a specific part # / name for the OEM Canon hood ?

Does it fit other Canon lenses ?

Is it push-on or threaded ?

Thanks !

40mm is correct.

Typically with those, Canon used push on hoods - tho I cannot figure out which is the "correct" one for this lens.

Personally, I went with a 40-40.5 step up ring, so I could standardize, and use screw in hoods and filters.

If you get a generic one, you will get some blocking, but not much, it's a small lens. Just make sure it is short enough not to cause vignette.

There is no official hood, as one isn't really needed due to the deeply recessed front element.

However, I have used the rectangular Canon hood for50/1.8 & 35/2.8. It's deep, vented, and thus doesn't disturb the view out the finder at all much. Not especially common, but not crazy rare either. Be sure it comes with 42mm slip-on or clamp-on Series VI adapter ring.

There's an earlier 50/1.9 rectangular hood that's much more common, but smaller. I don't have one, don't know if it would vignette.
