Cosina possible slowdown?

I think this is related to the power supply being re-distributed to homes and the affected areas. Most of the big industries have shut down too - particularly the power intensive plants. At the moment the "rolling" black-outs are to keep infra structure (trains, heat etc) supplied.
Lets hope that they can get the reactor problems solved and have a chance to go back to "normal" life somehow - in spite of the tragedies and terrible loss of life that has happened.

Nonsense.

Shipments were estimated to start again this week.

I hope you're right Stephen (as I'm sure others do as well). I was under the impression that the resumption of deliveries you speak of was related to an earlier shortage of stock and now this latest information - if it's correct - relates to the effects of the earthquake.

Time will tell.

The only thing that's odd, and maybe I am not well informed, all the usual places I have checked for CV product (local shops, B&H) are showing out of stock on many of the usual products carried. I find this very unusual.

As for dmc's comment about out-of-stock situations, I believe there was a slowdown in deliveries prior to the earthquake - whether for production or shipping reasons I have no idea - and Stephen's comment in his reply to my post that deliveries were being resumed "this week" doubtless related to that. I only found out about that because I was approached to sell some CV equipment I had when the local distributor couldn't get delivery from Cosina in time for the customer's travel needs.

Cosina maintains its incredibly diverse product line via production runs. Most items are not continuously being produced on the production line. Voigtlander and Zeiss products combined are only a very small part of Cosina's output. The only time Voigtlander products are hard to come by for distributors is between those production runs if the factory temporarily is out of stock, or if a product turns out to be far more popular than anticipated, like the Voigtlander 25/.95 M43 lens. Overall there was no Voigtlander slowdown of deliveries prior to the earthquake. My comment was about deliveries referred to a week's delay due to transportation problems associated with the earthquake.

And there you have it folks. Place your orders and stop worrying!
