I'm looking at rolling my own for the first time, so I'm trying to figure out where to shop and what I should be paying

what's a decent price for Tri-X in bulk? (both 120 and 135).. and would anyone recommend any place in particular to buy from?

Yeah, that's the right ballpark. Only 35mm in bulk rolls though - the backing papers would be a bit of a nightmare for rolling your own at home 😱 You might check with JandC or Freestyle as well.

ahhh.. good point about rollfilm.. I forgot about that.. I already checked Freestyle, and I happen to be on J&C at this very moment.. it's a small world 🙂

I think they've gone up a little bit. The $25 rolls at B&H are 'old' Tri-X (manufacturer's number ending in 401), new (import) rolls are a little under $30 apiece at Adorama and B&H.

I can still get old TriX?!?! Oh, man... that's the price for 50' rolls, special order. Rats.

Yeah, I've been paying $30 at B&H. It's the lowest price I could find, especially when you add shipping.

You can get Neopan 400 and 1600 from Megaperls (www.unicircuits.com) in Japan for $30 and change. With the cheapest shipping (if you can hold out for a couple of weeks) it probably costs $5 less per 100' for bulk 400 compared to B&H.

I've looked at B&H's film prices a dozen times over the last month, and not once did I notice that the $24.95 Tri-X were in 50' rolls. Good thing I didn't order any.

Came across this thread while looking for opinions on Tri-X.

Current price on B&H is $44.95...

This is what makes those Arista films so appealing. It's too bad that prices will probably continue to go up and up.

That price from way before was, I believe, the import/grey market version, which Kodak slowly removed from the US market.

Arista is fine and very affordable, but Arista isn't Tri-X. It depends on what you're after. The film stock or the right price. Both are valid reasons for picking one over the other.

And I bought 400' of TXT a while back because of the price change...
