Even though I rarely pick up my Nikon gear (in the middle of an M9 love affair), I just couldn't resist ordering an 85mm 1.8G - regular price is $499 and they're $399 with the instant rebate. That's just an outrageous value IMO. Now I'm back to a 35 & 85 as my only AF lenses.

Those two focal lengths (35/2 AI-S and 85/2 AI-S) and a Nikon FM were my entire camera kit for almost two years, once upon a time.

I've gone from the 1.4G to the Sigma 1.4 to the 1.8G. Optically the first two were great, I just keep selling them because image quality keeps getting better and prices lower and lower. I personally cant swallow a $1200 difference between 1.4 and 1.8.

I saw that the Bower 24/1.4 is on sale for $500. That's pretty tempting if you don't need the pro build.

I just converted the Zeiss 15/2.8 ZF.2 to Sony A Mount and it is amazing. If you like wide on FF body this is awesome.

I have the 85 1.8G and it's amazing. Extremely sharp corner to corner wide open on the D800. It has extremely low flare too. IMO it outperforms my 90 apo asph summicron.

The G lens line are really a great bunch of lenses, enjoy them I have a 35f1.8G
and it's really nice!
