Counterfeit NP-W126 batteries

The battery below was sold to me as a genuine Fuji battery by a seller on Amazon UK, and supplied in full and authentic Fuji retail packaging. Now let's play 'spot the deliberate mistakes' shall we?

I came across a chemical bum hazard once on the banks of a river, and he was not pleased.

So in addition to the typos already noted, here's a list of the other issues with the fake:

• The quality of the printing on the battery labels is slightly fuzzy (my original battery is pin-sharp)
• The original battery has an engraved serial number on the end; this one doesn't
• There's no screen-printed orange flag on the end
• On the front – where the original says 'Fabrique en Chine' in a condensed font below the Fujifilm Corporation name, this battery instead says 'Fabrique au' (Manufactured to?)
• The 'Insert this direction' arrows on the front and read have 'direction' spelled with a lower case L in place of the second 'i'
• The font used isn't a perfect match for Fuji's one, and the forger obviously didn't have a condensed version to hand

Also, things like 'bum' in place of 'burn' aren't down to poor print quality, or letters bleeding together. I've had a loupe out to inspect this thing, and that really is an 'm' they've used.

Weirdly though, the packaging was the genuine Fuji article. So someone down the food chain, likely in China judging by the typos, is swapping out genuine Fuji batteries and replacing them with no-name third-party cells.

I've contacted the seller, who's promised a full refund, and let Fuji know as well.

I'd be interested to know if there's any more of these in circulation, or if this is a one-off.

I guess they buy empty packaging for their fake batteries and sell them away.
I've never been satisfied with no-brand batteries in any camera, never. So I buy the real thing when I buy the new camera (and inspect them)
