Nice, artistic touch. I like the mixture of color and B&W in the same photo.

Did you add the grain to make it "film-like"?

No, I have no inclination to imitate film. I added a structure because i felt some grittyness suited the subject.

That grittyness is called grain and is uniquely characteristic of film ... whether you admit it or not you were imitating film!

Let's be truthfull here. :D

I meant to add ... if it's noise you're in trouble with that M9 because I checked the exif data and the first image showed ISO 160. :D

I was checking out Silver Efex Pro the other day ... their grain simulator isn't that far off the mark IMO but the $190.00 price tag scared me off fairly quickly!

Keith, have you tried Alienskin's Exposure? It's not as user friendly as Silver Efex Pro, but it's superior in every other way. The grain simulation is amazing, it actually mimics how film produces grain (some have more in shadows, others in highlights etc)

Strange uniqueness if you call a digitally generated structure film. Personally, if I want it to look like film, I shoot film, if I want it to look like a digital structure, I use a digital image, like here.

Alright... this thread started off nicely. It'd be nice to see images speak for themselves for a change again.

Don't mean to offend anyone here but, seriously.

Cheers!

Jaap, great images by the way.

Just because an image have grain it doesnt mean someone is trying to imitate film per se.

Oh and I'm going to join the M9 club in two days... Any advice ?

Not a bad idea at all, Scott. If members play, we could turn this into an M9 image thread:

Only a very expensive one: get a Summilux 50 asph...:D

ROTFL

Thank you but no thank you.

Already owned one and its by far the most fantastic 50mm in the world, bar none.

BUT

I own a Noctilux ( and I traded my 50 lux for it ) already and I can't wait to see it on the M9 : and yes, I know its large and heavy but I'm used to it and I can remember at least two reasons to still love my nocti over my lux : 1.2 and specially 1.0
