I've posted in the past how I picked up an M3 on Craigslist for a good price, and an ever-ready leather case was thrown in by the seller. It didn't match the camera (tripod screw on the wrong side), so I didn't think much of it. However, I just did some research, and it appears this was actually an original ever-ready case for the first Leica MP with Leicavit! See this link for a source on this.
You can imagine my disappointment it didn't come with the matching camera inside. I'm also quite shocked at how an original MP made its way into the private collection of an amateur Midwestern photographer (the family didn't even know what any of it was worth). However, I'm still pretty excited to have what appears to be quite the rare case.
Any idea on how to value this thing? The documentation surrounding older Leica cases seems pretty sparse to nonexistent. It's not in great condition, and I know the other older Leica ever-ready's don't go for much. However, most other Leica ever-ready's are not made for the first MP with Leicavit, which is about as collectible as a camera gets.
