Leica LTM Crap, my IIIf needs a CLA

Leica M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
Crap, my IIIf needs a CLA.

Youxin Ye is away, who is second-best, for CLA and shutter curtain replacement?

And, if possible, in Canada.

...Vick

Vick, you can try Stan at International Camera Repair on the Queensway Etobicoke Ontario.
or David Yau in Scarborough. David works on Leica Ms but he might do Barnacks also.

I was very unhappy with the work Kindermann did on my IIIf several years ago. They replaced the curtains and returned it to me with inconsistent shutter operation and non-functioning 1/500 and 1/1000 speeds. Although I paid an embarrassingly high price, they claimed they did the best they could with a 'worn out camera.'

A year later, I sent it to Oleg in Kiev, who fixed the problems Kindermann couldn't or wouldn't.
Do you know Oleg's full name or his contacts? I live and Kiev and thought I knew all techs over here :)

I spoke to Eddy Smolov this week and he is ill. That's all he would say. He recommended someone else for the work but no one I had heard of......FYI

International Camera closed a couple of months ago. The stock left was sold at auction. The old guys retired.

So International Camera is closed too Vic.
I know Commercial Camera closed last November after Gord died in April 09
These skilled people are getting hard to find.

Are we getting confused? Or are there two Olegs? To me he's Oleg Khalyavin at http://www.okvintagecamera.com/index.html

But it would be nice to have two Olegs...

Regards, David
No, there's only one (unfortunately).
I was confused by VictorM mentioning Oleg lives in Kiev. Actually Oleg Khalyavin is in Russia and when I emailed him about two years ago about M3 CLA he said he's living in Yoshkar-Ola (which is 50km from Volga, near southern edge of taiga forests) :) He doesn't have parts for the M leicas though.

Oops! My mistake! I was probably thinking of whatsisname who at one time polished and recoated lens elements.

Here's my IIIf wrapped and ready to go:

If you can track down 'Doctor Dave' Eve in Oakville, he would be a good choice too. This is an email address I found for him: dreve@sprint.ca

I've never had any troubles with Gerry Smith at Kindermann, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him either.

I will try again to reach Eddy.
He is a fine man.

I like Eddy a lot. He's done quite a bit of work for me in the past getting my "treasures from trash" going. I spoke with him about 6 weeks ago, and he said he would let me know when he was back at the the bench.

I just emailed him a few minutes ago, and got an autoresponder recommending Jerry Sorin:

======
Dear Sir:

At this time I am no longer taking any repairs because of my impaired
health and am currently seeking treatment. As an alternative to me, I
recommend you get in touch with a colleague of mine, Jerry Sorin, an
experienced camera technician with nearly 30 years experience. He will
provide the same service as I do. His email address is
jerrysorin3@gmail.com. His phone # 347-275-5999 or cell # 646-831-8757
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Jerry Sorin also handles Fedka repairs.

He repaired my 1941 FED-S and FED 50/2.0 Summar clone. They are as-new now.

Around USD 100 IIRC.

I take it that you have gotten good service from Jerry and were satisfied? I need a few things done, and as much as I'd prefer to wait for Eddy, I'm inclined to trust Eddy's judgment. So we have at least one member who's heard of Jerry.

I do hope Eddy is OK. I know he's not young, and things can go very wrong when you're older. (When you're old! Heck, who am I kidding? *I'M* old.)

I'm going to stop and pick up a get well card for Eddy tomorrow. If anyone else wants to do the same his address is:
