Crazy about the Biogon 25/2.8 Pic thread

Super series of portraits, CrisR, with a great idea.

I must admit though, that they give me a slight sense of unease - as if there's something vaguely sinister in the air that I don't know about - although this doesn't in any way detract from their power or quality as portraits.

On the M8, nice combination

Thanks Anthony,

The great variety in expression is the reason i like these shots. Some of them seem natural, happy, some seem concerned or uncertain. Given the initial inspiration of the "reaction shot", i'm pleased with this result.

Cris,

Inspiring! Enough so, that I now have a 25/2.8 on the way! Like you, I will be coming from the CV 25/4.

Please keep posting!

Thank you Jeff,

I'm glad to hear you're picking one up. It's quickly become probably my favourite lens, so versatile. You'll see a big jump from the 25/4 and be amazed at the detail.

I use it wide open at minimum distance for people, it gives a nice area of serious sharpness, then lovely smooth bokeh that still hold environmental detail - just as important as the main subject to my shots.

At f8, hyperfocal, it's a super sharp snapshot machine. Still good down to 1.2m for closer subjects, fantastic for landscapes, buildings and wider scenes. These are the only 2 ways i shoot this lens.

Today's portrait.

I just wanted to share some 100% pixel crops from some of my recent street portraits, to show off the excellent detail and quality from the Zeiss 25mm f2.8 Biogon.

All images are 1024 x 768 crops of my final converted and retouched images. All shots were taken at f2.8, ISO 160 on the Leica M9.
