I have an M8 on order and now am turning my mind to creative ways of funding my new toy. I would not be suprised to see and increase of gear for sale on this board and others as well as Ebay.

I expect I will reluctantly put my M7 up for sale in the next week and probably also a Digilux 2. I also have some seldom used DSLR and lighting stuff that will likely get posted on Fred Miranda but I can't rule out the possiblity of and organ or two on EBay.

Come to think of it I have a two year old West Highland White Terrier who is almost through his juvenile delinquent phase and might fetch a buck or two

.......then theres the 52 year old, blond (fake) cute, mint condition wife who might end up in the classifieds.

Any other creative financing gong on?

Sell your dog for a camera?!?!? Yikes. Unless you're a breeder.

If you sell that M7 for a decent price, I have always wanted one. Might be intersted. MIGHT. If I get this job - not likely.

The bits about the dog .....and the wife were intended humour

Become a Leica distributor (or get a job with one)? Surely these guys buy wholesale?
- Better yet, have wife get a job with a Leica shop...

Heh...I have a line on a job working in a tea room...I may actually get to do more than just prep. :D I need to go talk to the person who is running it. If at all possible, I want to work there to get some experience.

Not that I need an M7 or anything of the sort, but it may allow me to get my M2 faster than expected. That would be nice.

And on the digital M, I'm not that interested, though I believe it will be a great camera. I'm still too smitten with film to really think of buying a digital.

Precisely what I did with my very first quality RF camera, a Canon IV-Sb2 and 50mm f:1.8 lens. Don't ask. It still hurts. :bang: :bang: :bang:

I'll probably wait till next year when some of guys start putting your used M8 on the market in order to buy back the M7 you sold off to finance the purchase of the M8.

I'd consider selling my neighbor's house but mostly be cause I can't stand the monkey-assed redneck.

Well, I don't know about the wife. I suppose that if she is near mint at 53 you might want a model more amenable to frequent use. As to selling the M7, however, I admit to pondering that myself. I suspect the M8 will render my M7 obsolete. When I think of "I need to keep the M7 because..." scenarios I think that perhaps a MP and M8 are more complementary than an M7 and M8. The "if I have an M8 I will still need a less battery dependent camera" theory points to me selling my M7 to buy an MP.

You will see a huge influx of used equipment hit the market shortly. Analogous to when the M7 came out you saw many M6s find there way to the used market, but on a greater scale. I believe mostly you'll see M7s, because the M6 and MP owners will be less inclined to give up their mechanical and go to the electronics of digital.

The influx will drive the price of used stuff down. More product and less demand.

If I was going to go for an M8, then I would definately sell one of my MPs and possibly a lens. I would probably keep one film camera until I decide whether digital is or is not for me.

I never really considered going digital, but recently the lab lost my film. Maybe that's a sign.

One of the best banters I 've seen on Eboy was on that premise. A sellers's description noted that he had to sell his FM2n because his wife told him to. A prospective buyer replied that he 'd do better selling the wife and keeping the camera. The seller replied how could he? She was almost one of the family now, and the kids may miss her too :D

What's a "(fake) cute wife"?

Otherwise I love the M8, if only it frees up lots of equipment for us lesser folk. Unfortunately it doesn't make people give it away for free :D

You are right there. I am still in two minds about trading in my M6TTL:bang:
My Digilux2 is staying. It will make the perfect second camera.:0

Just let's say that the hairdresser has some influence over the colour of her hair.....

Was it Rodney Dangerfield who said "my friend told me he just got a new Chevy for his wife. Geez I wonder what they'll give me for mine?"

That said Herb, I would hang on to her if she's full frame :D

My problem isn't selling my wife to buy the M8, it's keeping her from divorcing me if I buy one :bang:
