Hey all.

I'm considering putting this shot in a small exhibition I have coming up later this month. Would like your comments/critique on it, and how it could possibly be improved.

Kitchener, Ontario. Leica iii, Voigtlander 15mm Super-Wide Heliar. Tri-x in T-max dev.

Well, it could be improved if there were a black cat sitting on that bright spot on the sofa. This image needs something else, it lacks clarity of purpose and the eye does not know where to settle.

Yeah, thats totally true - its hard to make photos with a superwide where the eye has a place to settle, because it just takes so much in.

Thanks for the crit :)

My opinion is that this photo does not work as a single photo. It needs a context. As a part of a series (e.g. a reportage) it would be great.

the composition is very strong, the tonal distribution focuses ones attention in the centre third, well almost, and there's a good diagonal in each corner taking the eye back into the centre

technically it needs the bits of dust looking at and on my screen the light is blown

as others say it's light on subject, a nude on the sofa would have made a spectacular photo

I agree 100%. It's a creative image, both exposure and angle really work for me. It just needs context.

the Light "is" the photo here. The diagonal lines and the strong contrast give a sense of anxiety. But the photo is not descriptive and we do not know why. It remains an open point. Which is what I like in this picture, but as already said by other it needs to be in a contest, in a serie where at least one other image gives some explanation.
just my opinion, ciao

sorry, I disagree this is why it works, a classical composition

for me, personally, i find this bit the enigma .... very x-file

THe photo doesnt do a lot for me, since I dont understand the subject, theres something there, but not quite enough of whatever it is.
How that for vague....but then to me, the picture is a little bit too vague.

I just wonder why the fuzzy, dark photo. A little bounce flash off the ceiling would have made a better photo. If you are trying to convey an idea with the fuzzy, dark photo, it didn't work for me because I don't get it.
