I have two rolls of 35mm slide film - Voigtlander VChrome 100DX and Kodachrome 64. I don't know the exiration date of the VChrome but the Kodachrome expired in 12/98. Both have been siting on a shelf in a closet for years - the VChrome was purchased in 2003, however.

Which is suitable for cross-processing, and what kind of results would one expect? I'm tempted to just shoot the K64 and process properly just because it is what it is, but I've never seen a straight slide of VChrome, so any advice/experience is welcome.

Kodachrome can ONLY be processed in K-14 chemistry due to the nature of the emulsion (it requires three different development baths, one for each color).
The only K-14 processing plant remaining is in Kansas. Don't expect anybody else to try to develop the film, for they will ruin it.
Any E-6 film can be cross-processed in C-41 without any ill effect and a rather unique color shift.

not sure on those films but expired (2003) velvia typically goes a slight muted green when cross processed:

nice pictures todd, i've never considered crossing velvia, but will have to try it now. i have some old 50iso in the fridge which will be put to good use now.

sorry for the really simple question, but what does it mean to cross process? is it just processing slide film using c41 process?

That's about it. Alternatively, you can send C41 through E6 processing to get a similar, though not identical, effect.
