Curious about viewfinders - seeking opinions

All these decades I've had the M2, almost always with a 35 'cron on it, and wearing glasses, I couldn't quite see the full width of the framelines. I'd move my eye a bit to get a sense of what was included at each end, but this is just the way it was. Without actively peering at the left and right frame borders, I could sense their presence and carry on! As soon as I tried to examine one frame, the other would disappear.

With contact lenses, I could more easily see the whole frame at once, but nothing really outside it on either side. It's the same now I don't usually wear glasses for shooting.

On the CLE, I can easily see a little outside the 28mm framelines. The Contax G zoom-viewfinder prevents seeing anything outside the framing of the mounted lens. And if there's a way, as with the Leica, to "test" framing for other unmounted lenses, I haven't discovered it yet.
