Leica LTM Curious IIIF Viewfinder/Rangefinder widget

Hi all,

Saw this IIIF body with an interesting accessory.

Any idea what is the widget covering the viewfinder/rangefinder window?

Looks an interesting one.

Curious. The flash shoe is also different. What does the front of the camera look like? Joe.

The shoe looks like it's from a CTOOM flash bracket.

Could the VF / RF widget be an accessory (leitz or aftermarket) diopter / magnifier attachment ?

I have nothing for the accessory shoe...

Here it is, front view, serial redacted. Chanced upon it on the bay while looking for a iif/iiif body manufactured circa 1953, my father's birth year.

Didn't notice the peculiarity in the cold shoe previously, thanks for pointing it out.

The finder accessory looks really good

That style of accessory shoe is typical for a IIf.
The widget is a diopter adjustment, I think.

It looks like a IIf not a IIIf but without the serial I can't check. Yes it is a diopter adapter, pics of these have been posted before.

Cold shoe is right, same as my IIc.

I think DAG had a few of these diopter adapters at one point.

How is the dioptre adapter secured to the camera eyepiece?

It slides over the factory eyepiece - there is a small shoulder & groove, I believe.

Yep, just push it on.

A dab of clear nail polish with keep it from getting lost.

Someone could bond a eyecup to one... that would be useful.
