Hi,

Could anyone tell me what the current going rate for a last-model Elmarit-M 90 is? Various sources seem to indicate it's anywhere between $400 and $700, but the cheapest I've seen recently is around $1000. Have prices risen, or do I just need to be patient?

Many thanks in advance,

Jon

its a great, great lens that is being sold for peanuts for reasons I cannot understand. why anyone would buy a new 90 summarit rather than a mint elmarit M for half the price with built in hood I cannot comprehend.

I would hold off for a bit as Ken Rockwell has just done a piece on the Summarit and Elmarit 90mm's and basically blasted the Summarit and heaped (recognisably justified) praised on the Elmarit 90mm. So prices are bound to rise somewhat, a bit like they did for the Olympus 35RC which has seen a massive and rather bemusing surge in price (over £300 in one case.... bit ummm 😱)

The 75mm Voigtlander Heliar is well worth the money too if that's an option.

One of Rockwell's negatives on the Summarit was the curved font on the lens markings rather than the squarer font used on current Leica lenses.... Hmmm. Personally I couldn't give a flying word beginning with S about a font on a lens 😉
