My Konica Auto S2 was $10 on Ebay, in perfect condition. Its Hexanon 45/1.8 lens (non-interchangeable) is every bit as good as a Summicron 50/2.

Are the Helios 44 and the Kiev-mount Helios lenses of the same design, or is it just a brand name thing?
They're different. With Soviet lenses you have to look at the number as well.
In Kiev rangefinder mount there were only the Helios-103 (53/f1.8) and the Helios-94 for the Kiev 5 (50/f1.8). In Kiev/Nikon mount for SLRs there was only the Helios-81 (50/f2 or 53/f2). Then there are some for Kiev-10/15 SLR mount, but that's unlikely to be interesting for most users.

Well, based on this thread I just picked up three Konica AR mount lenses: a Konica 28/3.5, 40/1.8, and 50/1.7 for about $100. With an adapter, I will see what they can do on an Olympus E-P2. It will be interesting to see what they can do compared with Leica or Nikon glass with the same or similar subjects.

For RF i think it's the canon 50mm 1.8 (price to performance ratio)

Here is another undervalued one: Auto Rikenon 50/2 in M42 mount. I got one for $11 on a lark. It is very good with Kodak Gold 200, certainly better than $11's worth ...
