Curtain call

I'm working on a Zorki 4 with a broken shutter: the short curtain ribbon has come off the lower pulley and meshed itself between the gears -- pretty standard stuff.

I've repaired several of these (just completed a 4K with exactly the same problem) so it's not especially daunting but previously I've always stripped the camera down to the last screw, CLAing as I rebuild and learning about the camera along the way.

This time I want to make an exercise in minimal repair... restore the shutter operation while stripping as little as possible from the camera. Currently the body is off but the top plate is untouched.

Anyone else repaired an unglued shutter ribbon without a full strip-down (ie freeing the shutter from the crate) to restick it? Maisenberg is very vague about this!

Any tips gratefully appreciated.

No-one?

Okay, I'll do the job and post any findings here to help others (the idea is to repair what is a common shutter fault while disturbing as little of the other mechanisms as possible).

I doubt you will be able to access the drum that the ribbon needs to be re-attached to without taking the shutter out of the crate. Even if you can, you will still need to attach in the correct position. IIRC that position will be behind the drum and inaccessible. I'd be interested to know if you achieve this though!
