curtains aging (rigidity)

Over time, the latex surface of fabric curtains tends to harden, which makes the curtains themselves more and more rigid, in any case, certainly less soft (or flexible) than they were originally. I changed the curtains of an IIIf which were as stiff as card stock.


Has anyone ever actually experienced the consequences of this hardening on the functioning of speeds? I wonder, because it is not obvious to me that this stiffening is harmful to the unfolding of the curtains.
