Hi,
Thinking about this lens for a NEX.
I notice that the official specs indication a MFD of 0.5m for the M mount version. However from photos i can see markings for what look like 0.4 and 0.3, for example:

So if someone has the lens, does it focus down to 0.3 but loose rangefinder coupling or is it physically restricted to 0.5m?
many thanks!

the ltm one goes down to .3m, but it doesn't really matter the DOF is so deep everything is in focus at f11 if one sets it to .5m

But if i'm close up at 5.6 inside then i might want to focus down closer! I know from my canon 10-17 that i do like to be able to focus quite close.
I'd prefer the M version because of the filter and hood, but if only the LTM version goes to 0.3 then i may go down that route. My question was really finding out whether the M also goes down to 0.3 and the photos make it look like it does...
cheers

From what I see, those markings are there just to get an idea of DOF at the close focus limit, not because the lens will actually focus down there.

So they could be DOF markings then. Hmm. Does anyone have one to check? Just a quick twist of the barrel would be enough.
Are there any optical differences between an LTM and M version then? To the best of my knowledge the differences, aside from the mount, are that the M has a built in hood?

Well-known
I can confirm that the M-mount version stops turning at the 0.5 meter mark. Anything less than that is simply to indicate the front-end of the zone of focus.

Thank you for confirming this. I guess i'm on the lookout for an LTM version then...
