I guess my experience with this lens is a little different than other people's as far as flare goes. I never used the square lens hood with it though. Here's one example photo shooting into the sun.

I've had both the 21/4 and the 25/4. I stuck with the 25mm. Here are my thoughts from another post comparing the 21mm and the 25mm:

I've had both lenses and settled on the 25. I found the 21mm too dramatic - it looked very wide in my shots. It's a great lens but just wasn't for me. I love the 25mm, particularly for street shooting. It is distortion-free, and many people have commented, when looking at my pictures, that they really don't look like they were taken with a wide angle at all. With the 25, you get the benefits of wide angle shooting without the liabilities.

I should note that I find the scale focusing very easy to use and have yet to mis-focus a shot with it. When street shooting, I set it to f/8 and get everything from about 1m to infinity in focus. Even wide open at f/4 I find it very easy to use.

Here is a shot that I really like, taken with the 21/4:

Now I want a 25!

Now I want a 25!

Wow!

I wasn't even considering a 21 or a 25. I just dropped by the thread to look at some pics. Now I want a 25 after seeing sockeyed's shots!!

Some great samples of what the 21/4 can do in this thread. If you still want to look at more, I have another bunch of shots with the lens over here: http://flickr.com/photos/nihraguk/tags/21mm/.

I'd also like to echo what someone else said about how easy it is to scale focus this little beast. Though the lens really starts performing one or two stops closed down... at f/4 I find it slightly fuzzy sometimes, though that might just be me.

I've got a 21 a few days ago from another user: I think is great for indoor shots... here's a couple from the first roll (on a Bessa T, APX400, Rodinal Special) in fact it was the first time with this lens, with this camera, film and developer... 😀
