Hello, I recently tried to put a filter (ND) on my CV 21/4 P but with no success: Though the lens is theoretically 39mm threaded, I can't screw any filter because the hood is somewhat blocking the operation -and the hood, as far as I know, is locked in place and not removable.
Now the inner surface of the hood itself seems threaded... Is that where I should try to screw a filter? And what diameter is it?
Or does anyone know a trick to properly screw a 39mm filter on this lens?
Many thanks in anticipation.

The hood unscrews ( reluctantly). Put the lens in the palm of your hand - hood against it and lightly "push" it down and unscrew. It is a very thin ring of metal and if you try to grab it by the edge - it will distort slightly and bind.

Thanks Jonmanjiro and Tom! I suspected something like that but didn't dare to apply any force because I had already broken the hood of my CV 28/1.9 (actually not the hood itself but the tiny screw, resulting in a useless slipping hood...).
Now, testing this CV 21/4 P on my very recent second-hand R4A!
Thanks again.

Beware vignetting with an E39 filter on a CV 21 f4.
But maybe it only vignetted for me because I used a Leitz one with a fairly thick rim?

It's a good idea to unscrew it with the lens cap on, imo. That's the way I do when mounting filters on my Skopar 25/4 at least. The hood is quite fragile and gets easily bent otherwise...

I use a Voigtlander LH1 and set the small round hood aside. It allows for easier filter exchange and offers more protection against flare.

Vignette has not been a problem for me ... the filter fits inside the hood and as others have said, one must first remove the hood in order to get it on.
