CV 21mm - Which CP/Filters to Use ?

Hi,

I just got my first CV lens. The 21mm Color Skopar. It looks nice (haven't shot with it yet)... I'd like to buy a CP and a few color filters for it.

Filter size is 39mm if I'm correct. It seems a bit small for a 21mm lens... I mean will there be vignetting if I use 39mm filters? Or should I be using a step up filter?

I haven't had any issues with using filters on my CV21 lens. I typically use a yellow for black and white film and I occasionally use an ND 2.

If yours is one of the LTM mount 21/4 you might find that the filter (indeed a 39mm size) can prevent you from putting the small threaded hood back on. The most common 39mm filter you will find is the Leica version as it would fit 35/2,50/2 and several other lenses. The rings are quite substantial and the hood will not fit over them. On the new P version thats not a problem as the hood is slightly larger diameter and will slide over the filter. Only problem I have had with either lens when it comes to filter is that the more common Leica 39 filter is chrome and on a couple of occasions I have had reflections from the ring. Great lens and you will enjoy going wide.
