Has anyone ever used the CV non-RF-coupled wide-angle (25, 15, 12 etc.) lenses on a FED-2 body? Can this be done? I've been trying to come up with reasons why such a combination wouldn't work, but I can't think of any. I'd like a wide angle complement to the FED's I-26M.

The reason I ask is because I'm taking part in a cross-country bicycle race (as support crew, not as a rider) in June and I'll have a chance to do some landscape shooting. I'm trying to assemble a lightweight, durable travel kit on the cheap and I understand that the CV lenses are top-notch. Ultimately, I'd like to add a Bessa L or R to complement my FED and divest myself of some of my SLR and scale-focus gear.

Thanks in advance for your guidance....

It works very well! In fact it's an ideal combo because the worst part of a FED 2 (dim viewfinder) is bypassed by using the accessory finder and scale focussing.

The 25 and 12 will be no problem (if your using a FED2 with a high accessory shoe, the low shoe model wont allow the finder to mount) but the 15 has a fixed hood and with many of the soviet RF's the lens mounts with the hood off the 12/6 o'clock position and you can see it in the corners of your images... I've used it on a Zorki 1 and it was fine but on the FED2 I tested this week it was noticeable so I bought a Bessa L for it for most use, Cameraquest.com still have them listed for $69 new.

Here is a shot with my 15mm Voigtlander on a FED3a, Agfa Ultra 100 ... its a very nice lens.

Oh yes. I forgot about the raised accessory shoe on the camera. Late model FED2e type 2's are raised, allowing the use of an accessory finder, ealier ones are lower.

Shucks. I didn't realize that. I've got the cv25/4 in LTM. I've got the FED 2. Hmmm.
