this is such a great lens- had one when they first came out...sold it to a friend...missed it, bought another...again sold it, i think because i thought the lack of coupling was a problem...but then my friend let me buy back the first one. it is definitely not getting sold this time. in between i tried the 21/4 which is coupled, but with these focal lengths, fov/dof, who needs to worry about taking the time to focus, that is, if you plan ahead and set up for zone focusing and adjust accordingly.
 
The 25 was the first wide angle that I bought for my CL. It's a nice lens, but right before heading off on a trip to Asia I decided that it wasn't quite wide enough and bought a 21. For me, that was the right call. I really like the 21 focal length more. I think if you're just going to have one wide the 21 is more useful and more fun. That said, I still like the 25, just not as much.

Also, don't worry about the scale focusing. The DOF on both lenses makes it super easy. Even with the 21, which has rangefinder coupling, I still just use scale focusing. There were even sometimes when I forgot to focus and shot objects 6 feet away with the focus set to infinity, wide open, and still got good results.

So make sure you pick up one of the two. They're both great lenses.

Since you've both lens, can you comment on the compared sharpness (especially on corners, at identical diaphragm) of the 21mm skopar vs the 25mm skopar ?

I am also looking at both lenses, and I thought that I could get more sharpness (I mean less softness) by cropping the 21mm to a 25mm if needed.

Sorry for not replying sooner. Haven't been on here much recently.

I haven't had the chance to do very scientific side by side comparisons with these two. I just came to the sudden conclussion, right before my trip to asia, that 25mm wasn't wide enough for me. So I ordered the 21mm with 2 day shipping, shot 1 roll with it, and left for asia with it directly. I haven't noticed any problems with softness in the corners with either one, but I'm still going through all the photos I shot on my trip (27 rolls). There's a few of my favorites in my gallery, and some of them are with the 21.
