it's a wierd little lens eh?
has this ring thing with knurled perimeter to attach as a focus ring.
do other people use it?
and the lens doesn't lock at infinty, is that normal?
i also got the metal 28 finder, wow is that thing bright and clear!!
weighs a bit too, i like it.
now i'm just waiting on the red cover from cameraleather, that i thought would be here by now, and i'll start some camera porn shots coming.

i am dense.
i noticed the difference when i was looking for the dof scale thinking ahead to hyperfocal distance shooting but 'external mount' did not enter my consciousness.

The answer to your query is
A: Non of the external lenses have locks at infinity, a lock is not needed. The lock for internal mount lenses is needed to avoid having to use a thumb to hold the heliciod stationary, as you twist the lens, easy if you have three thumbs.
The rule for the external mounts is to set the internal heliciod to infinity, and the lens to infinity, insert the lens, twist to engage the external bayonets, and latch the lens lock, and then focus to close up and back to infinity. If you dont do the last step the inner baynet follower might not have engaged, though it may not be necessary, depends on the camera and lens.

Congrats on the lens.
The wide-angle CV lenses focus very easily with the thumb wheel, as well as with the barrel.
My 25/4 is a dynamite lens. However, I have twice had to disassemble the separate viewfinder because the frame lines drifted to an angle (I guess I'm too hard on it). This isn't hard ... it's a round piece of glass that you can adjust. But before I noticed it, all my wide-angle shots from a recent trip were skewed. I had to crop them to straighten them, making it more equivalent to 26mm or so.

focus is smooth with the wheel, easy action.
the finder seems very well made fred and the cv lenses don't seem to need babying at all.
i had a bessa r that i treated the same as any other camera in the bag with no problems at all.
