Took this lens on my walk to work this morning. The quality still amazes me.

these two pix shot at ISO 400, f8.

there's far more detail in the originals. I've printed them up to 12x16 and they show no signs of being 'digital' at all. It's amazing what you can do with 6MP :D

I have to agree about the quality of this lens. The lens is "glued" to my RD-1. I also find the focal length to be very good for allround use. Close up and wide open it blures the background nice for portrait and it is also usable for landscape- I "zoom" with my feet.

Isn't it a fine lens! I got one in "Bargain" for $250 or $260 which some wannabee painted the front-facing engravings black but otherwise is in perfect condition. I've been very happy with it. I picked up a 4th-version Elmarit for $600 because it has like a 1mm faint scratch in the front coating but honestly it was a case of not being able to pass up a bargain, not for want of anything better than the Ultron. The hood is fugly though.

It's a great lens on the R-D1 and on the M8. A lot of my current portfolio was made with the 28 Ultron.

Cheers,

Sean

Ive had this lens for about six months, and recently got a 40mm f1.4 SC which Id had my eye on since day one, however I find myself repetedly go back to that 28 just because the results from it are outstanding.

Only today, did I get an R-D1 on loan and have shot about 75 images with it, and the results from it on the R-D1 make me believe now that this lens is indeed a complete gem, though Id like to put it side by side with a Leitz or Zeiss just for the hell of it. Though I have heard that its supposed to be as good as the Leitz 28f2 and better then the new Elmar 28 f2.8. To be honest, that new Elmar is just too small, I actually like to have some size and weight with my lenses, makes me a feel reassured.
