Howdy again,
Anyone using the 28mm 2.0 Ultron on an R-D1?
Struggling to decide between it and the new 21mm 1,8
Have heard a few things here and there about the 28mm being not so great on digital, but no such issues for the 21mm...
Heart says 21mm due to equiv FOV it will give me....
Head says 28mm due to cost (mainly) and smaller size/weight (secondly)

I have the 28/1.9, which performs great on R-D1. The camera tends to vignette more heavily with wider lenses than M8 (despite the bigger crop on R-D1), but I have no experience with the 21/1.8.Anyone using the 28mm 2.0 Ultron on an R-D1?

I also have a 28 1.9 and I think it's matched perfectly for the R-D1. The lens is quite big and heavy though, so I recently bought a 35 skopar which is tiny and weighs a lot less. There's not much difference in the focal lengths or speed.
The 21 f1.8 looks like a huge lens, could be heavy, too.

Thanks heaps...
Do any of you know where to find some info in regards to Voigtlanders naming system? Ie what makes a Nokton a Nokton, and Ultron and Ultron etc ??

When I had my RD1 the CV28 Ultron was my standard lens and performed superbly. Can't really say much more.

I have the CV 28 f/2 now -- I like it but I rented the CV 21 f1.8 and loved it. Build and image quality that is very close to the Nokton 35 1.2 (which is my favorite on the RD-1). At some point I plan to sell my 28 and 40 and fund the 21.
I'd say the main advantage of the 21 is it gives you a little bit wider of a FOV (33 vs. 44), but performs just as well in low light situations.
The 21 is much bigger, but it's not huge. I don't mind the size of larger lenses -- in fact I prefer it as it gives me more balance on the camera -- but that's me.
You should be pleased with either lens.
