I have to agree with whats been said about the Ultron, good construction and a lovely smooth performer. I use it on my Bessa R where it's usually partnering my CV 75 (now that really is a good performer).

Thanks for all the advice. I'm definitely going to pick up an ultron soon. I'm heading to a guitar show this weekend to try and unload a few guitars to help fund my new camera stuff (ultron and the panasonic L1).

I did a comparison of the two lenses about a year ago and came to the same conclusion. For a brief period, I owned both lenses and needed to decide which one to keep.
The Skopar has higher contrast and would suit landscape or cityscape photography.
The Ultron is a more gentle lens and suits portraiture and low light photography. However, it is extremely sharp. The bokeh at full aperture is far better than the Skopar.

does anyone have any pictures of how much the ultron blocks the viewfinder? What about cv 35/2.5?

No picture, but I just went down stairs and looked at mine: The 1.7 Ultron shade blocks just a little bit at the right bottom of the framelines on my R2. It does not come up or cut across the corner of the framelines. I was not really conscious of it before. It's not much, really. Not like the big corner patch obscured on the G2 or anything like that.

hey, thanks for such fast replies guys.
anyway, im using bessa R. still having a hard time deciding between an ultron and color skopar. one is smaller, and one is faster...after reading so much reviews about how good both lens are, still cant decide.

If you want true confusion and uncertainty, start thinking about the 40mm 1.4, and the single coat version.

I have both lenses. Bought the 1.7 first, kept reading here how different the 2.5 is. Since I have 2 R's and 2 L's, I decided to add the 2.5 The lenses are fundamentally different. I'm glad to have both of them.
