Hi All,
I lost my cap at a wedding and I was wondering if anyone has found a cheap replacement for the CV one. I'm bad with cap retention so I rather loose $5 caps than $35 caps. I tried a 55mm in on the hood but it's a too loose. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Several of my older lenses sport caps that once graced non-prescription drug containers. They come in a huge variety of sizes.
If you can find one that fits, the two-piece "child-proof" caps, when separated, work great.

I'll have to check that out. My wife is a pharmacist so I might be able to out fit all my lenses...

Those snap on caps that the Zeiss and some CV lenses will easily pop off unless you snap them on the lens just right.
So I took an old filter, busted out the glass, and screwed in the filter ring. Then a $2 generic lens cap will easily slide on the ring.

I have read similar posts in this forum. What snaps on, must snap off...
The solution is simple:
Use a screw-in type, or half of a filter stack cap set. They are usually made of metal and available for all common filter sizes...even on eBay, and cheap too.
