As I mentioned in another thread, I'm thinking of getting a slower and smaller 35 (I already have the huge CV 1.2) for daytime use, to fit between the 28/3.5 and 50/2.5 I already have. I'm leaning towards the "Classic" which shares a square hood with the 50/2.5 and 39mm filters with 28, 50 and 90. Would anyone have any comments either for or against this choice, or other suggestions?

If you have an M Mount camera, go P-2

I've owned the Pancake I which is the same formula as the Classic. I now have a Pancake II, which is simply incredible. The best 35mm lens I have ever used.

The first picture was taken with the original Pancake. Good, no? The one of the battleship was done a couple of weeks ago with my new P-2. It's a blast.

I've got a Canon 1.8/35, a Summaron 3.5/35 and a CV 2.5/35 Classic. I consider the Classic to be the best, even though they are all good...

Many thanks to you all. I find myself both further confused and - on the other hand - perhaps convinced it won't make a whole lot of difference whatever ...

In the end, I think I'll probably stick with my first choice. I really don't need anything faster, as I've already got a 35/1.2 for after dark.

A Canon 35/2 ... not much more expensive, as compact, similar character to the Color Skopars, and one stop more.

Roland, is the Canon 35/2 (second version) really a match in sharpness/contrast to the Pancake II? Because I would like to buy one of these two lenses for my R-D1.
TIA, Didier
