myself have a white version of this lens. its optical performance is without any doubt and I really love it.

one thing is, my white version mechanically feels a little soft and light which is not so pleasure for me.

some of my friends told me that it is because the white version is manufactured by Magnesium alloy, but at the meanwhile the black version is made by copper and thus has a much better weight feeling and operate pleasure.

Is that true? some knows any detail information about this is quite appreciate!

thanks guys!

The chrome lens holds up much better over time then the black, which shows very obvious brassing. I've handled both and personally couldn't tell the difference... Great lenses

Black paint vs. Aluminum ... it should be clear you are only talking about the finish and not in summary.

I've used both and the silver is certainly ligther and the aluminum feels soft. The black doesn't feel soft.

thanks guys.

I do heard that the finish of black version is easy to fade, but that is not important for me.

the operate feeling does matter... it seems that I might look for a trade of my silver version. I kind of have some hobby of copper...
