Played around with this lens this weekend. I am getting to like it.

A couple of simple snaps (with Walgreen's/AGFA ISO200 and Walgreen's processing) just to illustrate the characteristics I like:

Sharp but creamy, not harsh. Excellent rendering of skin tones. Shot @f/4

Smooth OOF. Accurate color rendition. Taken @ f/2.5

Thanks Ray - Mine arrives this week and I can hardly wait. 😀

I'll try to post some comparisions with another portrait alternative - the Rokkor 90/4.

cheers

I do love the look that lens imparts. It is my second favorite 35mm lens for bokeh.

It actually inspired me to buy the 100mm RF zenzanon. I know, no relation, but a longer lens with pretty OOF is nice to have around.

What's your favorite (35mm), George?

It's a great lens and tiny compared to the Leica 'cron and 'lux, great pics Ray,

I agree. It's a great lens. I love the OOF rendition and also the colors I get from it.

In my brief experience with rf's and with dslr's, the 75 Heliar has turned out to be my favourite lens. The following are the first two photos I've ever taken with it. The first is my mom watching her favourite Portuguese soap opera and the next one is the interior of a '63 Ford Thunderbird. Both are indoors shots with iso100 film. When I purchased it, I was a bit worried about its performance in low-light conditions but so far, I've been satisfied.

I was so impressed with these pictures I tracked down one of the last 75mm/2.5 AIS mount lenses for my Nikon D200. I know I know, its a DSLR but I thought it would give it a little flavor.

Wow

Wow

I have to admit I had this lens a few months and only used it a couple times. So far I think its great. When I was shopping for a lens I was going back and forth between the VC 75 and the VC 90. After seeing your photos I'm glad I picked the 75mm. Thanks!

Here are a few quickies from this lens. Full disclosure, this is on a D200 and not a RF.
