CV and Olympus ??

See what they have there in addition to the obvious Oly Zuikos... I wonder if this is a hint of future cooperation between the two companies.

Olympus and CV, now that would be one deadly combo if they decided to pool resources and brain.

I was thinking that CV would find a great fit with the M43 standard, but I can't see them making AF lenses. That would require more R&D and tooling to put the electronics and motors into the lenses, and why do that when your M lenses will already work with M43 bodies. I think the fact they have introduced an M to M43 adaptor speaks very loudly. They have a full line of lenses which will work perfectly fine on M43 bodies. I think it is possible for them to fill some wholes, wide and fast if they wish, in their SL II line, but it just doesn't seem like it makes sense for them to offer a whole line of M43 lenses.

I pretty much agree with Ralph, but it would be nice if they made AF m4/3 lenses. They could make them smaller ... the adapters add too much bulk, IMO. If Olympus fonllows this up with a more pro model with a VF, then I could see them making manual focus lenses in native m4/3 mount. That would be sweet.

The world has recognised the E-P1 and Pana G1 are both designed with the use of MF lenses in mind, so CV are a logical fit whatever they offer. The fact they are already able to fill niche markets for bodies and lenses should be the cause of some excitement if extended to the m4/3 market. The E-P1 and G1 are not definitive statements about the direction of m4/3, each just an introductory foot in the door. So I think this open acceptance of CV into a loose triumvirate could lead to some equally niche products from them.

Nice in principle, but all these lenses (try the nokton 35/1.2) look sooo large on the tiny E-P1. It has a sensor with a crop factor of 2 - it simply needs lenses designed for it. If the CV would do that and the Olympus would really come out with a EVF version - that would be a great little setup. It could be a "take it everywhere camera" for me. Than I would not try to solve the problem whether I should get the R3A oder dirctly the RF645 😛

Of course - somebody should finally come out with a normally prized FX RF camera (something like Bessa R5-FX), but we have talked that over several times already 😉

I don't think we will see an alternative DRF built on the M standard for our wonderful M lenses other than the Leica M8...... and RD-1.......

A whole new DRF built on the M43 standard, new soup to nuts body and lenses, on which we can also use M lenses, that I think is a possibility.

On the first point, I don't think AF is a must. Not in the market that we're talking about. CV -- against all odds -- has been surviving or even thriving in manual focus lenses arena, much like Zeiss. It's best to do what you are best at doing.

On the second point, the need is there. CV will do well to produce what Olympus seemingly reluctant to put out there: Primes. Compact, excellent, street-worthy primes.

It would be awesome if CV could produce quality lenses using the m4/3rd focal length. So, the Nokton 35/1.4 would be reborn as Nokton 17/1.4. Man, I'll stand in line for an Ultron 17/2 😀

Another thing is, if CV produces their quality primes for the m4/3rd, they won't be viewed as second-rate third party manufacturers like Sigma/Tamron (with apology to those companies), but it'll be more like Zeiss/Schneider.
