CV distributors in Europe

Robert White (they advertise here) are distributors for UK for sure, and maybe for all Europe also. They are very nice people to do business with and can deliver a camera across Europe overnight.

Shphoto (also advertise here) seem to have good stock, although I'm not sure of their status. Their advantage is that they price and sell in Euro, but I've never bought from them.

In France, there are also several CV distributors (Photo Suffren for instance). I think it's the same in Germany, Spain, Italy ... etc. You should check Voigtlander (or Cosina) website; AFAIR there's a list of distributors of for each region of the globe.

Thank you for your replies. RB seems to be a bit high priced compare to CQ. Does that VAT tax has to be paid even by people out of UK? Wouldn't it be less expensive to order from CQ even in Europe?

CQ prices are good, but then you don't have a local place to send your stuff for warranty related injuries.

You also run the risk of custom duties. And you won't get VAT refunded if you're in the EU.

I don't know about many distributors of Voigtlander in France, but JL Muller www.photomuller.com in Paris 14eme, well known for imports of FSU cameras sells new, ex demo and used CV cameras and lenses, and his prices are really good. The distributor in France (the ones importing cameras and selling to the shops) are Technicinephot but if you are not professional , it is very difficult to buy off them.

Well I live in Canada, but for the next months, I'll be in Paris.

I'll probably go check for a local store near where I live now (Suffren Photo / Photo Muller sound right). And if I have any problem with my lens, I'll have 3 months to get it fixed by the shop. I mean, if a manual lens works for a few months, it should be fine afterward... I hope...

Does that sound right?

Julien (angeloks),
Müller is a very good guy; take a look at his store first, and then go to Suffren if you don't find what you want.
But let me ask you the reason why you don't buy from Cameraquest and prefer a local store in Paris. As you'll see, prices in the EU are exorbitant, even when they're "good". If I was living in the US/Canada, I would buy the whole set of CV lenses from Stephen Gandy. Unfortunately, I'm "stuck" here.

Wouldn't it be less expensive to order from CQ even in Europe?
I find it cheaper to order from CQ even from the UK - if my goods are stopped by customs and I have to pay taxes they'd still be a bit cheaper. And if they don't get stopped (which they usually aren't) and I don't have to pay taxes, they're a lot cheaper.

But apart from the price difference and the ease of ordering from the USA these days, I have only praise for Robert White - I've been buying stuff from them, on and off, for more than 15 years and have always had excellent service.

Here in Italy the prices of CV 're very high, for me it's more convenient to buy from Camera Quest, i've buyed from Stephen three times and i' never had to pay the custom taxes....
