CV have any new lenses coming out?

35 hasn't really been my focal length in the past, but I wanted the speed and compactness, and after seeing the results I think I'll try and get used to this fl and make it my everyday lens (though I'll still use something wider for wandering around the city).

I looked at the 28/2 which is what made me decide to go for the 35 (even though 28 is much more my normal sort of fl). The 28 is too big for it to be a lens I'd leave on the camera and use in daylight as well as lowlight.

The Nikkor 35mm f1.4 has been my mainstay lens for years and I just found the VC 35/1.4 not up to same standards. That is not to say the 35/1.4 is a bad lens, just I was hoping to replace my Nikkor.

As for the 28/2, this is the lens that put the Bessa back in my working kit.

If thread is about dreaming, then I want a long EBL Bessa R2 with a cloth-shutter. Actually, I would not even bother with getting another Leica if the Bessa's would not rattle so much.
 
@P Lynn Miller - can you post couple of example from your nikkor? would love to see how it compares with the nokton classic.
 
It's time for a new 50mm from CV, I'm surprised that CV has not produce any new 50mm lenses while others focal length are being produced and improved.
I predict that the next CV lense will be a 50mm with f1, I think it's the lense that will set the new benchmark for CV and it's the one that being developing and perfecting in the factory.....ooooohhhhhh Nokton 50mm f1
 
A Nokton 50mm f1 would be fantastic, but to be honest it better be priced really right or an absolutely stellar performer, because I would rather save up and get the Noctilux than spend $2500 for a pretender.

I would rather have a 50mm f1.4 that competes with the Summilux.

Well compared to the ZM 28, Leica Elmarit 28 and Summicron 28/2, the CV 28/1.9, I'd suggest that the CV 28/2 is not big at all. The only modern 28 that is noticably smaller is the f/3,5 28mm CV lens; and it is not useful in low light. Thus among the 28s that are similar f/stop-wise, this cv 28/2 seems 'normal' in size. I infer this from the pictures Tom A has posted of it in comparison to other similar 28 mm lenses.
 
Somebody has to say it: the ZM 28 is actually quite compact, and measures roughly 10mm shorter from the flange than the CV 28/2. (Tom A's comp photo doesn't show the ZM 28).

No matter how good or how cheap the CV lenses are, there will always be someone complaining that they are not as good as leica...

Sorry, by comparison to other 28's, sure, its not big. By comparison to the speed and size of the 35/1.4, it is big. I have an aversion to big lenses and I would only have the 28/2 on my camera if I really needed the extra 1 to 1.66 of a stop over another 28. In fact, given my track record, when it came time to change over a lens I'd probably end up just hand holding a stop or so slower rather than change lens (another aversion).

The 35 I'm quite happy to leave on my camera. One of the main reasons I use an rf is for the compactness of the lenses, same reason the nocti doesn't interest me and the bessa lug position drove me mental (I didn't use lenses big enough to balance it).

Like I said...CV will set a new standard with 50mm f1, so far CV has not disappointed everyone with their range of lenses... no I don't think it will be a $2500 pretender. Frankly Leica over-priced their lenses, it's the name that they are selling, not their lenses.
 
First: A lens that you can't focus reliably on a Voigtländer (short effective base length) is unlikely to appear with the Voigtländer name on it. The 50/1.5 is marginal; a 50/1 would be very difficult indeed.

Second: If it appeared as a ZI lens it would probably be German-made, not Japanese made, so it wouldn't be cheap. Cheaper than the new Noctilux, maybe, but certainly not cheap.

Third: A 50/1 (or faster) is actually quite difficult and expensive to make.

I realize this is a fantasy thread, but isn't it going a bit far to ask for a lens that is not only cheaper than the Tri-Elmar, but a stop faster?

Presumably you want the same distortion levels as a 21/4.5 Biogon, as well...

Yeah. Maybe a Quad-Elmar, 28-35-50-90 ?? I'll even settle for f4. I wouldn't ever have to change lenses on familiy vacations. 😀

I would be happy to get my hands on a Tri-Elmar, but it has shot up in price on the used market - too rich for my pocketbook.
 
I predict a line of Super Noktons... 40mm f1.2, 60mm f1.2, 80mm f1.5 and a new R5 body with 1.2x viewfinder and appropriate frames. They can leave the strap lugs in the traditional position. 🙂
