Hey guys and girls,

I'm looking for the names of people who perform CV repairs in Canada. I dropped my CV21 on a laminate wood floor, and now the aperture ring is stiff and occasionally sticking.

I know names have been dropped before, but I can't find anything. Can you help?

Thanks,
BJ Bignell

bj, be prepared for some possible bad news though.

my 40 summicron looked pretty good after the bumpy ride it had to edmonton so i was surprised that the repair bill would have been so high and no assurances that it would ever be the same again.
the barrel was 'out of round' and it might have been fine after a repolish but also maybe not so.
after a $37. trip to kinderman it is coming back the same way i sent it.

hope you have better luck.

This isn't the first time I've dropped it, but I think the laminate floor was a killer. It's a hard surface, but it rebounds (unlike rocks), which could have caused the damage.

The lens sometimes works fine, and then next time I take it out of the bag, the aperture ring is stuck. I release it, and then it works beautifully. The next time I use it, the ring is stiff turns but is stiff enough to cause the lens to unwind. Focussing is as smooth as ever.

I'm hoping that it's a dislodged ball bearing or something in the click-stop mechanism. I've sent emails to CQ and PhotoVillage, but I'd prefer to not send it across the border, 'cause I don't have the patience.

I'll get in touch with Simon's Camera and AFC Camera Service. Simon's is a Leica seller, and I had a good experience with AFC in the past (needed a wire soldered on my light meter), but I don't know if either has ever worked on a CV lens.

looking for a repair facility in Toronto, Canada

I realize this an old thread, did some searching on RFF before posting

Anyways I'm looking for a repair facility in Toronto, Canada that can fix a CV 21 F4, stuck aperture ring.

Help is greatly appreciated! :)

Hi Pet - I didn't see this post until now, but it's funny I ended up searching last night for Leica specialists in the area and came across David's contact. What a coincidence. :)

Sent him an email last night and setup an appointment. Appeared some sort of guide pin was stuck and some gunk was there too. He cleaned it up though and is working well. Case closed.

Thanks for the help though. Much appreciated.
