Since this pertains to both FSU and CV, I decided to drop it in the general forum. I did a bad thing with some money that I probably should have saved, and now I'm curious if a CV 35/1.7 Ultron will mount and focus properly on a Fed 2. Anyone have any experience?

Some point early in the new year I'll have a Bessa R, I'm pretty sure, so it's not critical, but it'd be nice combo to be able to play with for now.

The only thing I've ever worried about when using CV lenses on soviet made bodies is the lack of roller on the rangefinder arm. I think the thing that touches the back of the lens on the soviets is made of something really hard, while the lens part is usually brass or aluminum, so the sliding should be ok, since for some reason hard metal sliding against soft metal is a good thing. The Jupiter 3 and 8 lenses have the part that rides on the RF sensor arm so that it does not rotate when the lens is focused, but on many CV lenses (and the Jupiter 12?) that rear ring does rotate against the sensor, in addition to moving in and out the length of the barrel./
I figure since the J-12 has a moving ring, then it must be ok though. I put a teeny bit of helicoid grease on the sensor tip just to make myself feel better, and have the lens close focused when threading it on.

Good info, thanks much. I'll look out for that when mounting and see how I feel about it. 🙂
