Hey guys,
Any of you have any experience with the original (classic LTM) 35mm f2.5 Color Skopar. I just got one at a decent price ($150) and then thought "I should have asked about it first". But I guess it is never too late. Heard a lot of people say good things about it, but nothing detailed.
Any insight is greatly appreciated
Doug.

Hi joe, do you have one of these cv 50f2.5 lenses ?
are you able to say how it compares to say a summicron or another modern 50,
I ask because I'm considering one myself but can't find any reliable info.
Regards John C.

it's the 35/2.5 we are talking about, right?
john, i've never even seen the cv 50 so i can't really speak to your question.
i have read both very positive and not so positive comments about it.

Sharp, contrasty, well built, a great little lens, good performance-to-value. You got it at a good price. I don't have the 50/2.5; I have the 50/1.5.

What Joe said. Great little lens and you got it at a great price. Congrats! You do not need a medium yellow filter with that lens.
The attached pic was taken with the first pancake version at about f4 on a very dreary day. In the top left and right corners you can see a bit of how the lens renders the OOF area.

i agree with peter, a yellow filter is overkill on that lens.

The other thing that's good about the version you've got lido is that it focuses down to 0.7M at closest distance. I think most CV 35s (including mine) only go down to 0.9M.
Hektor, you might search RFF for prior discussions about the 2.5/50mm... I have one, have given my views, and have uploaded samples in my gallery with matching full-scale crops.

Thanks guys. I was offered another one at the same price ($150) but this one is silver. The guy was trying to offload the whole R outfit, but will sell separately. I have no affiliation with this individual, but if anyone is interested let me know and I'll pass the contact details.
Cheers,
Doug.
