Photo Village have (had) a black 50/2.5. I bought one this week from them. Robert White in UK have a silver one. I don't mind 'slow'. It's all relative! I've got the 40/1.4 Nokton to fall back on if necessary.

I would rather have a LTM as then I can use it anywhere.

I'd love to see an M-mount version of the Nokton 50/1.5.
Me too, the LTM version might see a price drop then

With each change in mount I've noticed an increase in the quality of the mount and the appearance of the lens. While it was nice to be able to use the lenses on LTM cameras the primary market for these products (Japanese photographers and collectors) value fit, finish and style as much as performance. Driving up the average selling price is just good business in a confined market that only has one real competitor (Leica).

What's the point when you can get an adapter? I mean, I don't wait for 50/1.5 because I'm using it for a long time with adapter and haven't thought about it since I got it.
I just never remove adapters, so all my lenses are M, whether they are real M or LTM.
I don't understand.
I agree. I actually prefer the LTM as I view it as more versatile.

And the reverse... they just issued the 50/2 heliar in LTM.

Thanks Stephen,
" [...] let me assure you that all of these lenses will work beautifully on any classic Leica screw mount camera [...] all but the earliest Canon Rangefinders, [...] "
Thanks.
This jumped me in the eye: I didn't get around yet trying my CV ltm lenses on my Canon IV's and Canon P; is there any risk in doing this ? Might it damage the shutter or something else ? What's the problem with the earliest Canon Rangefinders ?
Thanks,
Stefan.

I believe the earliest Canon RF cameras does not have the same pitch on the threads although the diameter was still 39mm. The Canon IV and P are considered much later offerings.

39mm x 26 tpi (Leica thread) is a lot easier and cheaper to manufacture than a 4-claw bayonet with lens selector.
Not really, it's marginally easier, but both are produced on a CNC mill anyway. Once you've got the CNC machine programmed to churn out the three varieties M mounts, the difference in manufacturing cost between the two can be measured in cents.
Stephen has repeatedly mentioned that people prefer to buy the M-mount version. I think the main reason is because there is some dislike against adapters. People either don't know that an LTM lens will fit their Leica, or they are afraid of losing quality. Also, people think rangefinder coupling is more important than it actually is. For example, for a 15mm lens it is just plain unnecessary, but people still consider it a major addition.
