Just bought a s/h 15mm CV from e-bay but it comes without a viewfinder. I notice that CV do the standard 15mm viewfinder and a R-D1 15mm viewfinder. I really do not understand the difference - other than a hefty $100 - so can anyone explain it to me?

Your R-D1 has a crop factor of 1.5, so the 15mm gives a FOV of around 23mm on the R-D1. The RD-1 viewfinder takes account of this. Alternatively, just buy a standard 21m VF, it'll be close enough to the real FOV of the lens, and with anything that wide you can get away with loose framing and crop a touch as needed.
